Welcome to "The Colours of Death," an extraordinary workshop that delves into the fascinating realm of postmortem phenomena and special effects make-up. This immersive experience invites participants to explore the mysteries of the human body after death and learn the art of recreating these effects through make-up and practical effects. Please note that this workshop contains explicit content and graphic imagery.

Part 1: Understanding Postmortem Signs

The first part of the day is dedicated to a comprehensive discussion on the four key postmortem physical signs:
1. Pallor Mortis: The paleness of the skin that occurs within the first few minutes after death.
2. Algor Mortis: The reduction in body temperature after death, exploring the science behind temperature changes.
3. Rigor Mortis: The stiffening of muscles after death, uncovering the physiological processes involved.
4. Livor Mortis: The settling of blood in the lower parts of the body, resulting in a purple-red discolouration of the skin.

Participants will gain in-depth knowledge about these signs, their causes, and the timeline of their occurrence in a deceased body.

Part 2: Practical Application and Special Effects
In the second half of the workshop, participants will explore various products and techniques used in the film and theatre industry to recreate postmortem effects convincingly.

Learn about the different make-up products, prosthetics, and tools used by professionals to achieve realistic postmortem effects. Creating Livor Mortis Make-up: Witness a live demonstration of how to recreate livor mortis, the settling of blood, and using special effects make-up. Participants will have the opportunity to observe the process up close and ask questions to enhance their understanding. Hands-On Experience: Participants will have a chance to experiment with the
techniques and products under the guidance of experienced make- up artists. This hands-on session allows attendees to practice their skills and receive personalized feedback.

All of our Kryolan educators are current make-up artists who have been in the industry for many years. You will learn about different technique, products and equipment to use, and about the industry itself and how you can achieve the best artistry for that particular genre of make-up.

This workshop is held at our brand new Kryolan store in Covent Garden London from 11am until 5pm. The workshops are structured with demonstration and practical sessions. All products, brushes and equipment will be provided. You will not need to bring anything with you except yourself and your camera to capture images of the lesson. All workshop attendees will receive an information pack with a notepad, pen and make-up samples.

You will be awarded with a Kryolan UK Certificate of attendance that is recognised within the make-up industry.

This workshop is open to all candidates as our Kryolan educators will provide a service to cater for all, from beginners to advance. Whether you would like an insight into this field of the make-up industry or wanting to brush up on your skills and advance your knowledge, this workshop is for you. We cater for up to 11 candidates on our Kryolan UK workshops.

If two or more workshops are booked simultaneously for a single pupil, a 20% discount is applied.
